Friday June 26
Happy Friday and Farewell!

We did it! We made it to the end of the year!

Come for a walk/drive by goodbye at 12:00-1:00 on the north end of the field by the fences!

Congratulations grade 2 students and parents!

This year was definitely different then how I would have liked to end the year but we do what we can! We are strong and continue to venture on despite the changes we have been experiencing.

To the parents and families,
Thank you for all your support this year. It was great to get to know everyone and become closer with the BHS community. The help you provided your children this year with reading, writing and math will greatly support them as they move into grade 3. I can imagine being a full time parent, school supporter, chef and day planner was stressful at times. But I thank you
for being strong and supporting your children through it all! I could not have done it without you!

To my class,
Thank you for being such wonderful students this year. It was so great to get to know all of you. I will always remember the laughs we shared and seeing you all grow as learners. You are an amazing group of kids and I will miss you as my students. Have a great summer!

Best of luck in grade 3!
Come and visit me in your old room next year!
All the best and stay safe!

Happy Friday April 3!

Next week will look like as follows:

Monday to Thursday: Google Meet with Mr Lancee from 8 am - 10 am for help with LA and Math.
The entire weeks assignments will be released on Monday at 8 am so that parents and students can access and complete assignments when they have time.
Due dates: The assignments will all be due the following Monday by 8 am.

Monday to Thursday: 12:30-2:30pm Google Meet again with Mr Lancee for continued support with LA and Math.

No School Friday this week.

My recommendation is:
  1. Sign on at 8 am and read the morning message on the stream of our classroom website.
  2. Next, look at the assignment for LA or Math under the classwork tab. Watch any videos, try the questions and attempt the assignment before asking questions.
  3. You can split your day up so that you do Math to start the morning and then LA before or after lunch. It really depends on your schedules.
  4. Do not stress if you cannot get to assignment for one day. You can access all the assignments at any point in the week and I am just an email away if it is outside the meeting hours.
If you have a tech issue I will try my best to solve it but it may not be able to be fixed until the following day.

Thank you for patience and support in these difficult times.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good afternoon and happy Monday March 30!

I just wanted to write one blog message today thanking everyone for their patience with setting up online schooling and working from home.

If you have any questions, email me at malancee@cbe.ab.ca

I was able to reach out to everyone today with questions about online accessibility and apologies for the Ontario phone number! I will be working from home and the calling system on my computer uses an Ontario number oddly enough. From here on out my main mode of contact will be through email, school messenger and when it is ready, the new online platform! We are gearing up to start next week but I will keep you posted with details as we find them out.

For this week:

-Keep up with daily reading
-Do some journaling about what you have read. (Optional)
-Use online resources such as:
         -Razkids
         -Mathletics
         -Prodigy

Also, visit our website for some extra activities to do as well!

https://sites.google.com/a/educbe.ca/bhs-grade-2/home

Below are some helpful pictures that will help you get connected with our online classroom. This will not be started until next week but feel free to log in :)

The two programs we will be using are google meet and google classroom.

Enjoy this time at home with your families and stay safe!

Miss having you all as my students!

Mr Lancee

March 18 Spirit Day- Wear a Hawaiian shirt day-Dress in a anything flowery, colorful, bright etc.
March 19 Spring photo day

March 30 classes resume

Some unfortunate news... Due to the concerns from Alberta Health the school has to unfortunately cancel fun lunch and the spring dance next week. We will also be rescheduling our Pillars of Care assembly. Sorry for the inconvenience I am happy to answer questions.

Today in room 5:

Beddington had many students away today and so we modified our day accordingly.

The students began their day with the usual morning meeting before moving into mathletics. We did several assignments, most of which were related to subtraction as we have been practicing this all week!

After math we had gym before our regular snack flix.

The students then participated in some visual literacy focusing around the pillar of the month: responsibility!

We cleaned up the room before heading out for the weekend!

Have a great weekend everyone!

With everything that has been going on with the Corona Virus worries I wanted to provide some info on what we in school are doing to care for the students and ourselves.

Caretaking staff in all schools have increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols on high touch points (example: door knobs, light switches, desk tops, etc.) throughout CBE schools.
§  CBE schools will remind students of good hand washing techniques and new posters will be provided to reinforce this.
§  The CBE has a supply contract for all necessary soap, sanitizer, and cleaning/disinfecting supplies. This supply is reliable and readily available.
§  If you are sick, do not come to school Please report your absence.
§  If you have symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing, have travelled outside Canada or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, stay home and call Health Link 811.

Today in room 5!

Students began their day in the classroom with a short class meeting before heading into some quiet reading time. It was nice to switch up our usual reading time from the afternoon to the morning.

After reading we transitioned into math and continued to practice subtraction questions using manipulatives. Today we used the grids again with some square blocks. I noticed a large increase in the students speed and accuracy as they worked to finish 20 questions! They are getting it :)

We then had snack before continuing our writing from the previous day. We are working to add more detail to our Mushroom Kingdom stories before we start to edit them tomorrow!

Our class had gym just before lunch in which they played hockey!

In the afternoon the students had mindfulness doing quiet meditation before moving into science. Today we watched The Magic School Bus, Into the Arctic. We were learning about the concepts of insulation, cold weather and animal adaptations. We are going to explore these concepts more we test a science experiment tomorrow!

We finished off our day with music before packing up for the end of the day.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Keep up with the mathletics and reading at home :)
